Twitter: I'm a Mannish Boy

I listened to some coffee guru on The Splendid Table speak about how easy it is to roast coffee beans at home and how it was the best way to prepare a pot of coffee and I thought this sounded like a great idea, so I was making plans to order green coffee beans and the appropriate equipment to roast them and then I thought about my wife's reaction when she came home one day to find me roasting coffee beans and I decided that I really liked being married, so I didn't order anything.

i'll do whatever the hell I like -- as long as it's ok with my wife,

You're a wise man--and your wife has trained you well;o) Splendid Table is such a dangerous show for me to listen to. I get all kinds of wild ideas. Good thing I usually forget what they are by the time I get home or I'd probably weigh 400 lbs. Now that you've mentioned ST, it's kind of bugging me that I can't remember what great idea it was I heard a few days ago. I'd check the website, but these Christmas decorations aren't hanging themselves.

Is that too many characters for Twitter?

About a hundred years ago, a buddy came back from a trip to Yemen with a few pounds of green coffee beans for me. This was at the dawn of the interwebs, so we didn't have the world at our fingertips, and I looked everywhere for advice on how to roast the beans. can't remember what i finally ended up doing, but i know that i ruined them.

roasting ones own beans might sound like it's the next logical progression to brewing your own beer or growing your own herbs, but there is the whole access to green beans thing. when Step 1 is harder than just buying the finished product, that's the market talking to ya.
