Honoring My Father

My father passed away last night.

Some might say he lost his battle with cancer, but I would say that he won.

He died with dignity and in the end he was at home surrounded by family.

I'll be taking a hiatus from the blog, but I hope to return soon with a series of posts that honor my father.

Please keep me and my family in your thoughts and prayers.

keep on the sunny side,
Mike

P. S. Take time during the next few days to share a meal with those you love.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. As much as he will be missed, I know you will find a way to keep him alive in your heart. Writing seems a good way to start. You and your family are in my prayers.

Mike,

I'm so sorry. Knowing you, I'm sure he was a great dad.

I'm so sorry. You're dad was actually the first family member that I spoke to when I had to tell someone that my dad had passed away. He was so kind and thoughtful to me - and I will always think of him this way. Of course I will also always think of him as the slowest talker I have ever encountered, but with the funniest, wittiest responses ever. I'm truly sorry for your mom and brothers. I'll see you soon.

Mike,
I'm so sorry.
For what it's worth ... I never met your father, but can tell from your writing what kind of man he was and how his memory will endure. That might be the greatest legacy one can have. More powerful than any statue or a name on a plaque somewhere.
And again, for what it's worth ... you don't need to return with posts that honor the man. You've already done that, so many times over.
See ya on the sunny side, Steve
